CHALLENGE

Frank And Oak entered the footwear category with a responsible product line designed to extend its sustainability-led approach beyond apparel.

The challenge was to introduce a new category without losing brand coherence, translating complex material & production decisions into a clear, desirable, and easily understood value proposition within a competitive footwear market.

At the same time, the work needed to establish credibility in a new category while maintaining the brand’s existing equity in sustainable, everyday essentials.

APPROACH

I developed the creative and campaign direction for the launch, shaping a more documentary-style narrative centered on transparency, craft, and human connection.

Rather than presenting sustainability as a polished claim or technical feature, the campaign focused on the real process behind the product. The founder visited the factory directly, engaging with the people involved in the making of the footwear and documenting the craftsmanship, material decisions, and production realities behind the line.

The storytelling emphasized process over performance marketing, using honest conversations, observational imagery, and behind-the-scenes moments to create a more grounded and credible perspective on responsible production.

IMPACT

The campaign successfully established Frank And Oak’s entry into the footwear category through a more transparent and human-centered approach to product storytelling.

By foregrounding the people, process, and craftsmanship behind the collection, the work strengthened trust and credibility around the brand’s sustainability claims while differentiating the launch from more conventional product campaigns.

The documentary-style narrative helped frame footwear not as an isolated category expansion, but as a natural evolution of Frank And Oak’s wider philosophy around thoughtful, responsible everyday design, supporting audience engagement, early adoption, and stronger emotional connection to the brand.
